Experience Ilminster Community Interest Company was set up in 2007 following a public vote on the awarding of a grant from South Somerset District Council. As a Community Interest Company all of the people involved in its administration and activities, including its directors, are volunteers and receive no financial benefits – any surplus the company makes has to be retained to benefit the community.
Exil, as it is commonly known, acts as a community resource. Its facilities and experience in promoting events (including the Ilminster Midsummer Experience) are available to other community groups or for public celebrations. Recently we have provided administrative and practical assistance to Ilminster Town Criers’ Competition, British Disabled Strongman Competition and Ilminster’s Somerset Day event.
Its purpose is to celebrate and promote Ilminster and its community in all its variety and to raise the town’s profile in the surrounding area.
